more likely to experience a miscarriage, stillbirth, preterm labor, or have low
birth-weight babies. Professor Londi Shangase, head of oral medicine and
periodontology at the Wits School of Oral Health Sciences, believes maintaining
good dental care during pregnancy is vital to the health of the baby and mother.
