Father Given Gift of Sight After Implanting Tooth In Eye
Ian Tibbetts had
never seen the faces of his four-year-old twin boys. After an accident 16 years
ago left him completely blind, Tibbetts had undergone multiple surgeries in the
hope that he would regain his vision. But it wasn’t until a pioneering surgery
used one of his teeth to reconstruct his eye that Tibbetts was finally able to
see his sons’ faces for the first time.

Newest Accessory Among Female Pop Stars Causes Tooth Decay
What was once an
over the top accessory sported primarily by male hip hop artists has now become
a popular item among female pop stars including Rita Ora, Madonna, Rihanna,
Katy Perry and Beyonce. It’s difficult to understand the true appeal of grillz,

Dental Tools of the Future: Custom 3D Printed Toothbrush
Looking a bit
like a “hairy pair of dentures”, the Blizzident is the new 3D printed
toothbrush that’s tailor-made to fit a person’s mouth. By simply biting down,
the Blizzident can clean a person’s teeth in six seconds. Engineers use a
dental scan to create a computer aided design model of the brush, which is then
converted into a 3D object using stereolithography.

Scientists Create Smart Tooth That Can Monitor Health Habits
Researchers have
created a “smart tooth” that detects how much time a person spends chewing,
drinking, eating, coughing and reading. The smart tooth capitalizes on the fact
that activities from chewing to drinking to tooth grinding, all cause the jaw to
move in varying directions. Sensors embedded into the teeth can gather
information and analyze what action patients are performing based on what way
their jaws are moving.
